Note that MiKTeX 2.9 is a LaTeX distribution and it comes with TeXworks. You can find MiKTeX under your Program Files (x86) or Program Files depending on your MS OS. The easiest way to launch MiKTeX is if you go to All Programs (Windows 7) or Start Menu (Windows 8). – azetina Apr 26 '15 at 18:06.
I have been using TeXWorks version 0.4.3 r.857 (MiKTeX 2.9 64-bit) on a Windows 7 64 bit system so far at my university. Now I have a new PC with Windows 10, and MiKTeX version 0.6.2 (MiKTeX 2.9.6800 64-bit).
The new version has a major drawback: When an error occurs and I type 's' to continue LaTeX, no pdf output is produced, and of course nothing is displayed. Only 100% correct files work. When the LaTeX scrollmode recovered after minor TeX errors in the old version, the corresponding output was displayed so I could check the rest of the document - which is much more comfortable. The log in the new version even says 'Output written on fail.pdf (1 page, 14941 bytes).' so I assume that the output is deleted on purpose afterward. When running MiKTeX from the DOS shell with scrollmode after the error, the .pdf ist produced.
Question: is there a switch to get back the old behaviour? Settings for CTRL T are: pdfLaTeX + MakeIndex + BibTeX
Minimum working example, enter s for scrollmode when LaTeX stops:
output of the old version
output of the new version:
